The importance of Pedigree

When we think about getting a dog it emerges a dilemma that often it is somewhat difficult to dimencionar: pedigree or without pedigree ?. Recall that the pedigree is the record of previous generations of a purebred animal, something like your family tree. This certification have not only dogs, but all clean animals whose parents have been registered by the bodies authorized for this certification, usually dependent on the FCI (Federation Cynologique International).

But the importance of this record is far superior to the knowledge of the ancestors of an animal. The pedigree is the only guarantee that the acquired animal is pure, and as such will retain all the characteristics of their race characteristics, without alterations in their genetic makeup that might affect their behavior, character or aesthetics. It is also a tool that provides data on the animal breeder, parentezcos between individuals of a particular race, etc. This is where you find an answer the initial question: buy an animal with pedigree or not ?.

The pedigree is essential to determine the features that will have the animal once they grow, their character and behavior predict and avoid potential health problems. The “papers” of a dog are decisive to know their genetic background, and according to them, to establish the most appropriate criteria for breeding and reproduction. Some breeders sell their puppies “without papers” in which case you must know that this animal can not be pure, and although still small “seems” to have the characteristics of their race, growing might give us some surprise.
